On a cloudy Sunday afternoon second seeded Villa Park faced 3rd seeded Galaxy United. Villa Park took the field after loosing the toss, Haris Imtiaz (1) joined by Mohammed Ahmed (1) to share the new ball. Hassan Hashimi (8) and Asif Ali (45) opened the batting. VPCC bowlers showed more control and determination this time around, and troubled Galaxy batters. Mohammed Ahmed made early in-roads in the Galaxy United batting line-up, as Hassan was caught behind by stand-in Arif Hockla. This dismissal started a mini collapse as strong Galaxy batting tumbled to some accurate bowling and very sure catching. VPCC kept taking wickets at regular interval; no other batsman besides Asif Ali was able to handle VPCC bowlers specially Fawad (2), Zeyad (2) and Sohail (2); all of them share 2 wickets a piece. Galaxy tumbled to mediocre 123 runs. Villa Park team enjoying tremendous batting form started the chase on the wrong foot as fill-in opener Arif Hockla (0) was sent back in the very first over; and situation worsen when Hassan was brilliantly caught by Safdar Syed when the total was only 12 runs. This united the efficient pair of Fawad (16) and Zeyad (45); both took over their understood role of nudging and smacking the ball. Zeyad Imtiaz continued his devastating form and smashed some thunderous boundaries to all parts of the park. As he was looking set for his fifth fifty, he perished trying to hit 3rd consecutive six off the bowling of Altaf Khadry (1). Haris Imtiaz was the next man in, to face the spin tandem of Hassan Hashimi (1) and Altaf Khadry. Haris was looking very unsure during spin mastery session put on by Galaxy bowlers. Fawad did ease the pressure by hitting 3 timely fours on the other hand. Game took a favorable turn for VPCC as back to back catches were put down by sloppy Galaxy fielding. Once spinners were taken off Haris used long handle against medium pacers and hit some powerful shots to get closer to the target. In the end even after loosing wickets of Fawad and Uzair (4), VPCC reached the target in 22.2 overs to complete a comfortable win. Zeyad Imtiaz again claimed man of the match award for his all-round performance. |
