Master Blaster Zeyad finished the regular season in style as Villa Park stamped their brilliance over Deccan Blues

Scorecard

VPCC took the field to play cricket match after 7 weeks lay off, this time their opponent was underachieving Deccan Blues team. Deccan Blues won the toss and surprisingly put VPCC in to bat. Villa Park opened the innings with their regulars, Zeyad Imtiaz and Mujtaba Baqir. Nafees Ahmed (1) provided the early break through to D Blues as Mujtaba (6) once again fail to get going. On the other hand Zeyad (100) showed no rust as he built his innings on a wet and difficult conditions and also cricket ball getting softer after every delivery. Runs were hard to come by but Zeyad was at his best to counter any element that was going against batting. Abdur Arif (51), who made his come back after a long lay off supported Zeyad very well with nudging runs in the gaps and running hard. Both put together a massive 159 runs partnership with Zeyad being the lead destructor. Zeyad reached his hundred just off 66 balls with 3 sweetly timed 4s and 5 humungous 6s. VPCC scored a reasonable 198 runs in 25 overs game.

Deccan Blues began the chase with M. Fawal (12) and Mizan Chawdrie (2), to face the lethal bowling attack of VPCC roaring to go at the batters. Haris (0) and M. Ahmed (0) bowled with furious pace and nagging line, to push D Blues batters on their back foot. Rest of the bowlers did not let the scenery change at all, with Fawad (2), Arif Hockla (3) and Furqan Qureshi (2) kept taking wickets at will. It was no contest from the get go of Deccan Blues innings, as they never really threat to go after the target. They were eventually got bowled out for mere 105 runs.

Zeyad Imtiaz was named player of the game for his thunderous century, it was his first 100 plus score since 2005 zonal tournament in which he won for the Central East team with deadly hundred. (First in ACC since his 161* annihilation of Chicago Kings in 2005).
