Prashant Patel shell-shocked Villa Park, as Naper United wins a rain shortened contest

Scorecard

Villa Park returned to Bolingbrook field to play against winless Naper United on a very wet Saturday morning. Naper United wins the toss by default and put Villa Park in to bat in a 20 over contest. VPCC openers made full use to the new ball and dispatch some delightful boundaries but once dynamic Zeyad (36) fell to new addition Ankit Khera (1), VPCC kept loosing wickets at regular interval. Mujtaba (46) kept his wicket intact but no one could support him from other end. It was getting increasingly hard for Villa Park to score runs as ball was wet and very heavy but surprisingly umpire decided against to change to ball. VPCC score reasonable 127 runs in 20 overs.

127 runs under rainy conditions was not easy target for struggling Naper united batting, but weather did ease on them as VPCC bowlers took the field. Haris Imtiaz (1) and Muhammed Ahmed (1) both struck in their respective first overs to dent Naper United hopes of getting a flying start. Vijay Yadav (6) hung around for a little while to support their ace batsman Prashant Patel (67*), who was out of form so far this season. Villa Park let him off the hook multiple times as many simple chances went begging during the game. Prashant got his eye in by rotating strike in the middle overs and let loose on Sohail Rehmani (0) and Furqan Qureshi (0) to suddenly bring target in the reach. Naper United who were once struggling 3 for 32 in 10 overs; blasted 90 odd runs in last 10 overs to shock Villa Park in disbelieve.

Prashant Patel named man of the match to bring his team a glorious win single handedly.
