Scorecard

Written by Haris Imtiaz

On a cloudy and breezy afternoon, Villa Park faced flashy Youngsters on damp GH1 field. VPCC won the toss by default and decided to bat. Mujtaba Baqir (2) opened with subdued Zeyad Imtiaz (0), who was sent back to bench on the very first ball he faced by in-form Urvish Desai (2). Mujtaba Baqir poked around with no footwork and confidence, eventually giving way to Osman Ahmed (4). Ball was moving around and Youngsters were using the condition to their advantage, and by the time Villa Park realized that what had hit ‘em, they were 23 for 6 and discussing in the dressing room ‘what it could have been’. Fawad Agha (24) along with new addition Hassan Baqir (25) saved the team from complete embarrassment, and eventually both these warriors took the score to some respectability. But when the time came to acceleration both lost their wicket. VPCC bundled out for mere 94 runs, which is their lowest score in their history. Osman Ahmed took 4 wickets to lead the pack.

Youngsters took the field with great confidence knowing that required run rate in well under control. Urvish (9) and Kailash (11) provided much need resistance in the early going, by picking runs at every opportunity. Fawad Agha (6-13-3) showed is metal by bowling with fierce pace and accuracy and got VPCC in the game by picking up wickets at crucial intervals. In later stages, Haris chipped in with 2 wickets, but all was upto Captain Osman's (42*), who stood there showcasing his all-round brilliance to the disgruntled VPCC camp.

When all said and done, Osman Ahmed won the game for Youngsters who nailed VPCC with 3rd straight loss against them, dating back to last year. VPCC will be playing their next game against top ranked Bright Future.
