Written by Haris Imtiaz Villa Park faced Chicago Blues on a very wet Glendale height 2 field. With Chicago Blues winning the toss, they elected to bat in a light drizzle and slow out field. Villa Park opened the bowling attack with Haris Imtiaz (1) and Ahmad Bakhshi (1). Both bowlers handled with slippery run up very well with absolutely no support from any fielder. Several catches went begging including a regulation chance on the very first ball of the match. Keyur Patel (14) and Tushar Patel (38) took full advantage of the VPCC lapses and built a sizeable first wicket stand. But Blues showed their trademark weakness in batting once Villa Park tightened the screws in the fielding and bowling. No one could resist except for lone Vishal Parikh who scored valuable 40 runs with healthy strike rate. Chicago Blues stumbles to 126 runs losing all 10 wickets in the process. Haris Imtiaz (15) and Mujtaba Baqir (34) were assigned the task to chase the target in given 28 overs, as VPCC were docked for slow over rate. Mujtaba ride his luck as several catches were put down, and he took full advantage by scoring innings high 34 runs. Haris Imtiaz was sent back after umpire judged him in front of the wickets, soon followed by Mujtaba Baqir but by then VPCC score was already 73 runs. Rest of the batting chased down the score with ease with Hassan Bakhshi (14), Saad Ali (13), Uzair Ali (15*) and Fawad Agha (13*) chipping in their fair share. Fawad Agha named man of the match for his all-round show. Villa Park currently going through linear part of the schedule is playing below power so far; especially their fielding has taken a nosedive in quality and reliability. |
