Windy
City defeated Villa Park in a high scoring contest
by
Haris
Imtiaz
Scorecard
Villa Park faced mighty Windy City in a must win contest to
stay alive in night version of the game. Windy City won
the toss and elected to bat. Villa Park having lost
their previous game due to under performing bowling and
very unsure fielding, were hoping to have better result
this time. Haris Imtiaz (1) and Ahmed Bakhshi (3) opened
the attacked, against Mohsin Bhally and Kashif Butt.
Windy City openers played with usual flare and started
scoring runs quickly. Ahmed Bakhshi bowled with speed
and better control to dismiss 3 top batters in their
strong line-up, but runs were coming freely especially
through the efficient pair of Taha Baggia and Mir Ali.
In the middle session VPCC did put some brakes on the
scoring but once dangerous Qasim Khan was let-off early
he made VPCC bowling pay by producing late flurry of
runs to take Windy City score to mammoth 189 runs in 20
overs.
Villa Park
opened with usual pair but with least success as Mujtaba
Baqir (6) and Zeyad Imtiaz (8) was dismissed early. Arif
Hockla (13) and joined by Haris Imtiaz (63) did put
together a very resistive partnership in the middle, but
lost wickets regularly at crucial intervals. Batting
under the lights was becoming increasingly difficult
with time and Mohit Saini (2) and Danish Ali (1)
accurate bowling was making matters even worse for VPCC
chase. Even Uzair (18) and Fawad (14) late cameos could
not get the much-needed win for VPCC who lost the game
by 22 runs.
This loss
eliminated very good Villa Park team for the night
tournament, where they only have themselves to blame.
