Villa
Park came up big against Bright Future
by
Haris
Imtiaz
Scorecard
Villa Park faced Bright Future second time in 2 days to
play their last pool game of 2009 Night Tournament. VPCC
won the toss for the first time in the tournament and
decided to bat first. Villa Park opened the innings with
dynamic pair of Zeyad Imtiaz (29) and Mujtaba Baqir (8).
Villa Park lost early wicket but that did not stop Zeyad
Imtiaz from playing with his usual flare against the
side he dominated the other day as well. Hassan Bakhshi
(19) supported him well but VPCC lost couple of quick
wickets to put them in spot of bother, but the skipper
Uzair Ali (55) came in to bat with purpose, as he showed
energy in running between the wickets and class and
elegance even in his power strokes. There was no
stopping of this kind of determined batting; VPCC raced
118 runs in no time. Bright Future once again struck in
a bunch in the middle, and it was up to the usual
saviors Fawad Agha (39*) and Arsalan Ali (19) to take
the total from moderate to massive. Lower order wag once
again especially Fawad who displayed brilliant placement
and sublime power when needed to take score the daunting
185 in 20 overs. Fahad Syed (2) and Zeeshan Jamal (2)
shared two wickets apiece.
Bright Future built the
base of this massive chase on sloppy VPCC fielding which
did not showed any sign of life in the initial going as
many catches were put down once again. Ahmed Bakhshi (0)
and Muhammad Ahmed (1) bowled their heart out with out
any support by other men on the field. But the required
target eventually got the toll on BFCC batting as they
start loosing wickets to the improved VPCC bowling. In
the middle session when BFCC was banking to go big on
VPCC, Uzair turned the ball to Fawad Agha (3), who
relishes the night environment for pace bowling. Fawad
showed his vintage pace and devastated not only the
stumps but also the heart of the BFCC batting order.
During the game Hassan Bakhshi was injured while
attempting to take a catch on the boundary and was taken
to the hospital, he is recovering fine.
Villa Park defeated Bright Future second time in two
days to finish the night tournament on a positive note.
Fawad Agha named the player of the game for his
brilliant all-round performance.
